Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-09-23
These terms apply to the VisualMem website (visualmem.com) and the VisualMem mobile app for iOS and Android (together, "VisualMem"). By using VisualMem you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use VisualMem.
The service
- VisualMem is an independent educational project that helps people learn vocabulary in several languages with images, audio and spaced repetition.
- The app is currently in beta and is provided free of charge, without advertising or in-app purchases. Features may change, and paid options may be introduced in the future; nothing you use for free today will be charged retroactively.
- No account is required. Your learning progress is stored on your device; if you delete the app or lose the device, that progress cannot be recovered by us.
Content and permitted use
- All lesson content (images, audio, video, word lists and text) is created by or for VisualMem and is protected by copyright. Many images are generated with AI tools and audio is generated with text-to-speech.
- You may use VisualMem for your own personal, non-commercial learning, and you may share the cards the app lets you share. You may not copy, scrape, redistribute or resell the content in bulk, or use it to build a competing product or dataset, without our written permission.
- Do not interfere with the service, access it by automated means at a volume that burdens our servers, or misuse the problem-report feature (for example to send spam or unlawful content).
Accuracy
We work hard to keep translations, pronunciations, grammatical information and images correct, but language is complex and errors are possible. VisualMem is a study aid, not a professional translation or certification service. If you spot a mistake, please use "Report a problem" in the app — it helps everyone.
Feedback
If you send us problem reports or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve VisualMem without obligation to you.
Disclaimer and liability
VisualMem is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, VisualMem is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data stored on your device. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.
Third parties
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, whose own terms also apply to your download. Links to YouTube open YouTube, which is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service. VisualMem is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Google or YouTube.
Privacy
How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes
We may update these terms as VisualMem evolves. The date above shows the latest version; continuing to use VisualMem after a change means you accept the updated terms.
